“Solid State: Shona Sculpture”

Among the most well known art movements in Africa, Shona sculpture is the stunning representation of the narrative history of people.  Capturing emotion in stone, Shona sculptures speak to a vast audience.  The most famous of the sculpting families, the Nyanhongos, Agnes, Moses  & Wellington will showcase their latest work alongside the work of prominent sculptor Norbert Shamuyarira.  This sculpture movement, known worldwide, captures humanity at its best and is a not-to-be missed opportunity to witness these renowned artists’ newest pieces.

Bonner David Galleries are proud to announce the newest members of our artist family, Joseph Lorusso and David Gordon.

Joseph Lorusso was born in Chicago, Illinois.  He received his formal training at the American Academy of Art. He went on to receive his B.F.A. degree from the Kansas City Art Institute.  Joseph creates landscapes and figurative works. In painting these subjects, Lorusso has concentrated on honing his powers of observation, especially as it concerns to color, texture, form and composition. Lorusso’s paintings have been described as warm and dreamlike, places of restful escape with a sense of spirituality, and share timelessness with the works of other eras.

David Gordon was born in Springfield, Massachusetts and currently works out of New York City, and Santa Fe, NM.  He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and has been practicing fine art for over 35 years.  David has worked with many mediums but his primary focus is incorporating paintings within low optic sculptural glass pieces.  Low optic glass is a crystal clear medium that coveys the purity of pigment.  David blends these mediums and transforms paintings into vivid and modern sculpture.
