June Featured Artist John Schieffer

June featured artist John Schieffer at Bonner David Galleries

What an incredible talent!  As the spotlight artist in the May 2020 Phoenix Home and Garden, John Schieffer has gained much notoriety, not only in Phoenix, but throughout the nation. His studio technique, his attention to detail, and his use of light all make each painting a first-class work of art. Add to that his subject matter of children’s toys, game tiles, even adult martini glasses and you truly have an artist who paints for all generations.
Best of all, John lives in the Phoenix area, and as our featured artist for June, will be available to meet those who appreciate his talent for a one-on-one private tour of his new exhibition, now hanging on the walls of Bonner David’s Scottsdale location. As we safely re-emerge from our shelter, this is the perfect time to return to Main Street with a purpose—to personally witness the work of a true cultural icon.  We invite you to find a convenient time and click the link below to set up a memorable experience with a dynamic artist. Scottdale’s art culture is thriving, and what better way is there to spend some time on a summer day than with a local treasure viewing some stunning art?

Gail Morris
“Elements of Earth” | New works
Bonner David Galleries | Scottsdale

Oil painting by aritst Gail Morris, titled "Reflections", on display at Bonner David Galleries, Scottsdale, Arizona, April 16-May18, 2020

Just in time for this spring season of renewal and hope, we’ve received eight stunning new paintings from Gail Morris for her “Elements of Earth” show scheduled for next week.  While circumstances do not permit our original artist reception, we’ve beautifully hung the pieces in our gallery space and they make such a statement. Until we can unveil the actual show, we want you to have a chance to view and collect these works, so we’ve created a virtual exhibit in a flipbook format. You can view Gail Morris’ virtual exhibit flipbook here.

We are still periodically at the gallery, so you can feel free to contact us there by email. We can arrange for a private social distance tour and take care of all the necessary details to ensure safe delivery to your home.  Gail has been working tirelessly for this show and we’re proud to bring it to you, even if in a little different format. Our hope is that you and your loved ones remain safe during these uncertain times and that we’ll soon welcome you back to our lovely gallery spaces, both in Scottsdale and New York.

Here is a quick peek of this stunning exhibit from Gail Morris on display at Bonner David Galleries in Scottsdale, Arizona:

1 Window shop, we will leave the lights on, feel free to peer in.
2 Contact us for a private tour should you want a closer look.
3 Look online and in your inbox for more photographs & video.

In the meantime, we are here to assist you. We will announce a new date soon, obviously, details for this are pending instruction we receive about the safety conditions to gathering again.

In late spring, some friends and I went to a cabin in the woods in Prescott. We cooked, antique shopped, and of course, hiked. There are some wonderful trails in Prescott, along creeks, among the pinons and under the pine trees. It was on one of those hikes that we spied this beautiful mound of Echinocereus triglochidiatus glowing on a bank, nestled among the pine needles and boulders. It demanded a closer look.

While I was on this trip, I got the call that my dad was not doing so well. There was nothing I could do, and I was so far away. My friends listened to me, cried with me, prayed with me. And that’s what good friends do. They are like shining lights at the end of a dark tunnel. The beauty these cactus blooms will always remind me of their love and care.

There is something inherently romantic about Romona Youngquist’s paintings. Her pastoral scenes, often picturing a lonely farmhouse in the midst of a breathtaking landscape, are reminders of the Arcadian delights celebrated by Virgil in Ancient Rome. They also show, in a very subtle way, our place within creation, and are a humbling reminder that humanity can live in harmony with nature.
Each of Romona Younquist’s paintings is a symphony, an ode to nature and its beauty. Through strong design, rigorous composition, and the effective use of contrast, Youngquist creates or re-creates peaceful and uplifting scenes. Her paintings invite the viewer into a place they want to stay or return over and over. Each offers universal serenity and a feeling of homecoming.
Youngquist’s paintings nurture the soul. Nature, as a comforting source of physical and spiritual sustenance, is depicted with modulated tonalities and balanced proportions. Youngquist uses a limited palette and mixes every hue with extreme care while allowing splashes of vibrant colors to instill energy and guide the eye. Very few living painters have been able to achieve such aesthetic balance. This is why Romona Youngquist is so admired, so talked about, and so collected, both nationally and internationally.

Romona’s show will be on display until March 23rd, 2020.

Bonner David Galleries has long been in support of our furry family members and is excited to join in the celebration of dogs. That night, we will be featuring the distinctive work of Ron Burns, who has become famous for depicting ‘furever best friends’ of all kinds. From search and rescue dogs and shelter dogs, to portraits of loved pets, past and present, he has a keen eye for capturing the souls of our favorite animals.

During the night, we will also have donations from Bentley’s Biscuts, who create healthy and tasty treats that dogs simply love. Join us from 7:00 – 9:00 pm of April 10th, for a night dedicated to our pets who hold a special place in our hearts.

Romona Youngquist “Back to the Country”

Garden Path 40x40

Romona Youngquist’s work can be recognized by the picturesque barns and country houses, bright pops of color, and strong brushstrokes that make up her idyllic country scenes. The works from her newest show are no exception, allowing you to travel from the congestion of city life, to the serenity of the country.

Although Youngquist uses her surroundings in Oregon as a primary inspiration, each scene feels timeless and place-less, as if it could be right out a story book, or your favorite memory of home. The tension in her deliberate, impressionistic brushstrokes resolves within the serene images of rural fields and barns, resulting in a dramatic landscape full of tension, intrigue and beauty.

Her show will open on February 20, 2014 with a special artists reception from 6-9 pm. The show will then hang in the gallery through March 17th. Be sure to stop by and see these wonderful works in person, before it’s too late.

Max Hammond “Still Lives in the City”

leaning 48x36Max Hammond, a skilled abstract artist, has a way with colors. He masterfully combines the pigments of the paints into beautiful works of art on each canvas. His most recent paintings, inspired by cityscapes, only add to this exquisite body of work. In addition, Hammond’s show this year also features his distinctive figurative paintings. With unique skill, he captures the essence of the human form, fusing it with the expressive strokes of abstract backgrounds.

Hammond’s show opens March 21, 2013 from 6-9pm and will hang in the gallery through April 17. To see all the images from this new show, please visit our website, or click the following link to view the PDF for his 2013 show brochure: MaxHammondStillLivesintheCity
